HOW WE FARM
While our primary focus is on sheep, we do have a small herd of cattle that provide ample manure that fertilizes the soil. Chickens and geese free range, and our herd of pigs graze on a paddock next to the sheep. They gently scrape the surface of the soil to bring forth seeds that will grow into forages for them later. We incorporate several species of animals on the farm to work in a symbiotic relationship with each other that provide benefits to our land.
We work diligently to rotate our flock and herd of cattle between our farm and neighboring pastures. This allows for the previous paddock to rest and regrow. This method mimics the patterns of migration where animals roamed freely and it allows the native grasses to thrive while keeping the soil from getting overloaded with invasive weeds, and parasites.
We do not use chemical fertilizers or pesticides on our farm. We manage the land as holistically as possible.
